The carnival block Vindos do Oriente will be the first to parade in the official Carnival competition, which takes place on March 4th, in São Vicente, while the current champion Monte Sossego will close the parade.
According to the rules of the Independent League of Official Carnival Groups of São Vicente (Ligoc), the group Vindos do Oriente, which did not parade in previous carnivals, will be responsible for starting the parade at 7:00 pm with the theme “The daughters of Isis, the cradle of life, their struggles and achievements” and half an hour later it will be the turn of Flores do Mindelo, which came in last place last year, and which will present the theme “A dream, a desire, a journey from Africa to the Amazon”.
The order of the parade of the other participating groups was decided by drawing lots, held on Saturday night by Ligoc, in Praça Dom Luís.
Thus, Estrela do Mar, which came in third place last year, will parade at 8 pm, with the theme “I Love Terra”, Cruzeiros do Norte, runner-up of Carnival 2024, enters at 8:30 pm with the theme “Farol do Atlântico, Brilhante de Mil Luzes” and the current champion, Monte Sossego, will close the parade with the theme “Terra d’índio em festa – Celebration of the neighborhood that generated a nation”.
This year, according to the Minister of Culture, the carnival groups of São Vicente will receive a subsidy from the Government slightly higher than last year, which will be between 1200 and 1250 contos.
